Hello everyone,
I wanted to remind you about some Canvas grading and feedback features that could really help in the final weeks of the semester. For starters, if you use Canvas New Quizzes, Speed Grader now supports Grade by Question mode (which has been available in Classic Quizzes for a while now). Also consider the following for added efficiency.
Other useful features in SpeedGrader
- Comment library: Save and reuse common feedback, adding and deleting comments as needed.
- Grading without names: If you prefer anonymous grading, you can hide all student identity information until you're done.
- Word count: SpeedGrader includes a word count for Text Entry assignments.
- Edit submission status: Graders can change the submission status for a student's assignment directly in SpeedGrader.
More useful features in Gradebook
- Enhanced Gradebook filters: Available to turn on in your course settings under Feature Options, these save'able filters give you the ability to search by criteria like ungraded submissions.
- Assignment search: You can filter Gradebook by assignment name, showing one assignment or several assignments at a time.
- Message students: Want to send messages to your students directly from the Gradebook? You can choose options based on submission criteria.
New Canvas tools for next semester
- TidyUp is now available for quickly viewing and cleaning out anything you no longer need, so you're not bringing over stale content from previous courses.
- The Course Setup Wizard can help with importing content from a previous Canvas course, importing the customizable IU course template or another template, or adding a professionally designed home page.
- Ally can help you ensure your content is more accessible by generating alternative formats and providing tips to improve your Canvas course accessibility.
Need help with something else? Search the Canvas Community, or explore the instructor guide. (FYI: There's also a student guide.) And be sure to reach out to your local teaching center if you get stuck.
