Hi everyone,
Recent events may mean you and your students are struggling and finding it especially hard to focus. Greg Siering, director of the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, shared a couple resources to help you support students and their learning:
- Teaching during a Crisis (ways to offer the kinds of support and reassurance your students want and need)
- Trauma-Informed Teaching (a broader conceptual framework for teaching students who have undergone traumatic experiences)
The mentalhealth.iu.edu website for students also highlights campus-specific counseling resources and support systems, as well as free, 24/7 TimelyCare mental health support. And, while a lot of the focus is on student wellbeing right now, this affects you too. Help and resources for faculty and staff are available via the Workplace Mental Health website.
If you need assistance with end–of–semester tasks, don't hesitate to contact your campus teaching and learning center during regular business hours. On nights and weekends, book a virtual appointment with the ID Clinic (seven days a week until 8pm ET).
For details on submitting grades, check out the three chapters in the "Wrapping up the Semester" section of the Canvas Semester Checklist:
- Check your assignments, gradebook, and grading scheme
- Submit your grades
- IU policy on retaining student work and grades
Lastly, be sure to submit your Teach, Play, Learn Conference proposals by May 1 (registration is now open for the July 19th conference). And please join us at the Digital Gardener Summit at IU Bloomington on May 9 or IU Indianapolis on May 10 (faculty from all IU campuses are welcome).
