Hi everyone,
September seems to be off to a very fast start, so I wanted to bring a few things to your attention (you'll find short features below this, if you'd like more information):
- The next rounds of Generative AI speed sessions are this coming Tuesday via Zoom. You can choose from 11 topics, including apps ranging from ChatGPT to Adobe Firefly to Bing Chat.
- The IU eTexts ordering window is now open for winter 2023 and spring 2024. The deadlines vary by campus, but be sure to get your orders in as soon as possible.
- There are loads of workshops and events coming up in the next two weeks, including two faculty–focused sessions on the Delphinium suite of tools for Canvas.
Also, this is a bit longer term, but the Plater–Moore conference call for proposals recently went out with an invitation to share your innovative ideas, effective strategies, and success stories with fellow educators. Proposals are due by October 12.

In these 12–minute speed sessions, you'll have a chance to ask questions, share ideas, and make connections. Whether you're an AI pro or just starting your AI journey, there's a range of topics to choose from (including new ones since the last speed rounds).

Time to order IU eTexts for winter 2023 and spring 2024
IU eTexts benefit students through significant discounts, portability on a range of devices, and accessibility features like text to speech.
Instructors can choose from a catalog of 250,000+ titles from more than 60 publishers/vendors, at up to 90% off retail prices. The results are dramatic: Last spring, 55% of IU students used at least one IU eTexts title, saving them more than $12.3 million off retail prices.
All the details are on the IU eTexts Ordering page in Canvas. Please submit your orders before your campus deadline if at all possible. Not yet named an instructor of record? No worries! We can help you with a post–deadline order when you are official.
Reminders:
- On the Engage eReader used by IU eTexts, you can also include Open Educational Resources, faculty–created materials, customized publisher titles, and select library holdings. Contact IU eTexts staff to discuss any of these options.
- You can order Digital Courseware via IU eTexts to get your students a discount unavailable anywhere else, codeless access, Canvas integration, and a more flexible refund policy.
- Questions? Use our IU eTexts Service Catalog to ask a question or schedule an online consultation with Noma Maier.
