Welcome back! I hope your spring semester is off to a good start.
We're definitely entering a stretch of inclement weather and winter illnesses, so I wanted to highlight a couple resources for unplanned (and planned) virtual classes.
Keep Teaching shares advice on adapting your teaching style for hybrid or online instruction, as well as proven strategies for creating meaningful, engaging interactions with students –– whether through content, assignments, communication, or assessment.
The ProfBox Pressbook (ProfBox is an initiative for those new to teaching at IU, but we all have access to the supporting materials) has tips and suggested activities for when these times arise:
- Post a multicourse announcement
- Engage students with Zoom activities
- Encourage students to speak during Zoom meetings.
